Nach neun veröffentlichten Demos haben es Joint Depression jetzt mit Hilfe des finnischen Helgate Studios geschafft, 17 Songs aufzunehmen und auf einem Album zu veröffentlichen. Dabei hat Produzent Jukka Jokikokko ganze Arbeit geleistet: An der Produktion gibt es nichts auszusetzen.

Musikalisch bewegt sich die Truppe rund um Sänger Antti Karhu irgendwo zwischen Coldplay und Sentenced. Was im ersten Moment vielleicht abschreckend klingen mag, überzeugt aber durchaus.

Die Lieder tragen, wie der Bandname schon verspricht, alle eine gewisse Melancholie in sich. Schleppende Gitarren und ein unaufdringliches Schlagzeug unterstreichen diese Stimmung zusätzlich.

Leider ist genau diese Melancholie das Problem bei „Savage Infinity“. Nach der Hälfte des Albums hat man das Gefühl, all das vor ein paar Minuten schon einmal gehört zu haben. Es wiederholt sich einfach alles. Trotz der etwas zu kurz gekommenen Kreativität ist “Savage Infinity“ kein schlechtes Album, ein bisschen Eintönigkeit gehört bei dieser Art von Musik auch irgendwo dazu. Freunde melancholischer Rockmusik sollten “When Brains Fall Over“ und dem Titeltrack “Savage Infinity“ auf jeden Fall eine Chance geben.
